Highly bioavailable fatty acid liquid to provide energy during perfomance.
Composition
HI-OCTANE contains highly refined, readily bioavailable:
Medium Chain Triglyceride Oil Canola Oil (cold pressed)
Liquid Tocopherol Liquid Caramel
Features and Benefits
HI-OCTANE is a refined, concentrated source of fatty acids for energy during performance.
HI-OCTANE is a highly processed fat supplement consisting of highly bioavailable
fatty acids which are rapidly absorbed and converted to energy in working muscles.
The energy available from fats is 2.3 times greater than that from equivalent
glycogen (glucose) stores. By consuming fats as an energy source to fuel muscle
activity, the performance horse is able to conserve the stores of glycogen in the
muscle for those periods of severe exertion during sprinting in the latter stages of
the race or competition. By doing this the horse is able to delay the production of
lactic acid which follows rapidly from the breakdown of glycogen during severe
exertion, hence delaying lactic acid accumulation with subsequent muscle fatigue,
acidosis, and loss of performance. HI-OCTANE improves endurance.
Indications
When horses are performing under severe exertion during a race, glycogen must
continue to be broken down to provide energy to muscles in the form of ATP. By
supplementing highly available fatty acids in HI-OCTANE, the horse is able to use fats
as an alternative energy source during a large part of the competition, allowing the
glycogen reserves in muscle to be spared until they are critically needed during
sprinting for the line. The use of fats for energy means that lactic acid is not being
produced as quickly as it is from glycogen sources, hence muscle fatigue, acidosis
and Tying Up are all delayed, to improve endurance.
Unlike many fat supplements, HI-OCTANE is absorbed and utilised rapidly.
Dosage and Administration
Give HI-OCTANE at a dose rate of 50 mL orally once daily for the day before racing,
and again on race or hard work day, preferably within 4 - 6 hours of hard work.
Note: additional doses of HI-OCTANE need not be given during normal training,
except on days between the last fast workout and the race. Many vegetable oils or
rice bran oil can be used as digestible fat supplements outside of the immediate
race period.
Can It Be Used With Anything Else?
Yes. HI-OCTANE can be used safely with all Nature Vet products, and is most
commonly used in combination with L-CARNITINE, AMP-5, MITACHONDRAL and/or
COPHOS B.
Remember that L-Carnitine is critical in the transport of fats into muscle for
conversion into energy. When L-Carnitine is supplemented regularly twice
weekly and again within 4 - 6 hours of hard work, combined with
HI-OCTANE the day before, and again before hard work, the pathway to
convert fats for energy is never short of essential co-factors at critical times.

General Notes
Key Features & Benefits:
* HI-OCTANE supplies highly processed, rapidly available high energy fats as an energy source.
* HI-OCTANE may help to delay lactic acid accumulation in muscles, lactic acidosis, muscle fatigue and Tying Up.
* The energy available from HI-OCTANE is 2.3 times more than in equivalent amounts of glucose.
* Use HI-OCTANE for both sprinters and stayers.
Trainers Tips:
Stayers:
Give HI-OCTANE 50 mL orally the
day before hard work,and again 4 - 6
hours before work, and supplement
L-CARNITINE regularly twice weekly,
with a further dose of either
L-CARNITINE or MITACHONDRAL
(if muscle pain may be a factor in
reducing performance) 4 - 6 hours
pre-event.
This combination can also be used in
conjunction with AMP-5 if required.
Sprinters:
Even sprinters can use fats as an
energy source, thus saving glycogen
stores for the most intense periods of
the race. Supplement with
HI-OCTANE 50 mL on the day before,
and again 4 - 6 hours pre-event.
May use this in combination with
CREATINE (daily for 3 - 4 days preevent)
and /or AMP-5 given the day
before and again 4 - 6 hours preevent.
